Killer whale strikes again.

Last week I read an article saying that one of Sea World killer whales killed his trainer. The killer whale Tilikum, seized his trainer by the waist and brought her underwater. Tilikum thrashed her underwater until she died. Reports are saying that Tilikum might have been playing with the trainer but they are not sure. They are not sure whether she died from the thrashing or from the drowning. This is not the first time Tilikum has killed his trainer. There were 2 other incidents involving 2 other trainer. Sea World knew of these incidents but yet they still allowed Tilikum to be trained by other trainers.

Eyewitness reported that before the show the whale appeared to be agitated. Of course the whale would be agitated, they were once roaming the ocean now they are confined in a small pool of water entertaining crowds of people. What is worst was that Tilikum was isolated from other whales because of his violent past. It is so sad to hear that the whale was kept alone with no friends. How would you feel if everyday of your life consist of entertaining crowds of people who stole you from your home, and were not allowed to be with other whales. You wouldn't like that I am sure I wouldn't. I don't want to sound mean but the trainer knew what she was getting into. My condolence's to her family who had to lose a love one, but Tilikum should not be blamed for her death or any of the other trainers death. This incident and all the others could have been prevented. Sea World should release all sea animals to where they belong, in the sea. Killer whales are wild animal and they should be kept in the wild.

My new best friend!

After going through several used phones, it was at this moment when I realized that there has been something missing all throughout my life. I have my family, my car, and my dog Mylo. I have my work and my school. However, it was just the other day when I realized that I lived 22 years of my life without my new Apple iPhone (although it’s has already been out for almost 3 years now).

Entering a new phone contract and ditching T-Mobile, I decided to join the AT&T network as well as indulge myself into buying myself a new iPhone . I considered it to be a Valentines Day present just for me. Upon first getting my new tech, I felt like a little kid in a toy store who finally got the toy she wanted.

I finally joined the iPhone bandwagon and I’m already praising my decision. I never realized how useful the phone can be. The internet, camera, weather alerts, traffic alerts, directions alerts, language translators, plus all the games I’ve downloaded so far like Valet Hero, Poker 10K, Paper Toss, Hangman, Sodoku, Sunday Lawn, HoopsLite….there seems to be an application for everything. My boyfriend even asked, “Can it save your life?” I jokingly told him that, “Yes it can!”

Don't be rude, get to work on time!

In today's workplace, you would expect more professionalism especially in an economy where unemployment is at it's all time high. I work in an Assisted living home in Wilmette. We take care of seniors who has early to late stages of Alzheimer's and Dementia. I enjoy working there, especially taking care of my residents, they are a joy to be working with. The managers and corporate managers would always tell us teamwork and communication is key. They would stress it upon us constantly. Gossips and tardiness were not permitted it was against company policy, if you are caught you would get a warning, than a write up, and finally terminated . If it happens that you are arriving late, the company ask if you would call four hours ahead of your scheduled shift and let the manager or a lead team member know ahead of time.
So I come into work today to find out one of my fellow team member decided to show up to work four hours late, on an eight hour shift. This team member did not call the facility but had her husband called for her. Her husband did not talk to a manager nor a lead team member but just simply left a message saying his wife will be late. He did not say how late she will be or why she is coming in late. The executive director of the facility end up working the shift until the team member showed up. When she did finally showed up four hours later nothing happen, no write ups or termination. She worked her shift like nothing happen. This is not the first time she showed up to work several hours late, it happen twice already. Team members that she was suppose to relieve had to stay an extra hour. How could someone so irresponsible, unprofessional and lack the ability to be in a team, still work at a place where people's lives are in their hands.
